TCA approves 8004IAPC-4G In Vehicle Unit (IVU) for release to market

Transport Certification Australia (TCA) today announced BlackBox Control has received type-approval of the 8004IAPC-4G, the most advanced IVU linked to the National Telematics Framework.

Completely designed and developed in Australia by the WA-based company, the 8004IAPC-4G is the market-leading Intelligent Access Program (IAP) device in Australia.

IAP is a national program developed in partnership with all Australian road agencies. It uses cellular tracking technology to remotely monitor where, when, and how higher mass vehicles are operated on the road network.

Mark Langford, General Manager of BlackBox Control, says that the approval of the 8004IAPC-4G IVU will allow transport companies and other users to access additional functionality on the National Telematics Framework. This includes Intelligent Mass functionality, positioned for release in 2020.

The new approval is the latest advancement for WA-based BlackBox control, who were the first in Australia to be approved to offer the Hill Descent Monitoring (HDM) application by TCA in September 2019.
